Creative specializing in sports storytelling and brand marketing.

Hi! I'm Gianna Hagopian, a communications and marketing professional with a passion for storytelling, digital content, and collegiate athletics. As a recent Master of Science in Management graduate from the University of Oregon, I aim to combine business strategy with creative communication to help organizations connect with their audiences through engaging content and authentic stories.
My experience spans athletics, campus recreation, and nonprofit organizations, where I've developed skills in social media management, media relations, content creation, event promotion, graphic design, and strategic communications. I enjoy collaborating in fast-paced environments, bringing creative ideas to life, and using communication to build strong communities and memorable experiences.
This portfolio showcases a selection of projects that reflect my passion for creative storytelling, strategic thinking, and the power of athletics to inspire and connect people.

I had the opportunity to create a video showcasing the Gulf Coast Football Officials Association and the people behind the whistle.
For this project, I wanted to take a different approach to traditional football content by shifting the focus away from the players and onto the officials who help keep the game moving. I captured behind-the-scenes moments, game-day action, and the details that often go unnoticed to create a more personal look at what it takes to officiate a football game.
My goal was to highlight the preparation, communication, and presence of the officials while giving viewers a new perspective on the people working behind the scenes on game day.
From filming and capturing the footage to shaping the story through editing, I handled the creative process to produce a piece that felt authentic to the pace and energy of football.

Alternate Black Jersey Reveal

I coordinated the full jersey reveal experience β from surprising the players on camera to producing the behind-the-scenes video that captured their reactions. The team then wore the jerseys at the PFP Bend Outdoor Classic. The videos gained so much traction that Oregon Hockey reopened the jersey store, and the black jerseys sold out immediately.

Served as videographer for a documentary-style feature on Ascend, the University of Oregon's student-run outdoor adventure magazine. The piece captured the stories behind the students who create the publication β their passion for the outdoors, the editorial process, and the community that drives the magazine forward.
From interviews to b-roll, the project required balancing cinematic storytelling with authentic, unscripted moments β highlighting both the people and the culture behind Ascend.
The Legacy of Title IX in Shaping Female Leaders
Read Full ThesisThis thesis explores the long-term effects of Title IX on womenβs leadership development within the sports industry. Using in-depth interviews with then women working in executive or managerial roles across collegiate and professional sports, this research examines how athletic participation influences formation, leadership pathways, and professional advancement. Grounded in the Interaction Theory, the study argues that sports serve as powerful social contexts that shape how women perceive themselves and their potential for leadership. Key findings reveal that participation in sports fosters resilience, confidence, collaboration, and adaptability β traits essential for navigating traditionally male-dominated professional environments. While Title IX significantly increased access to athletic opportunities, participants described ongoing barriers, including gender bias, limited representation in leadership, and the emotional toll of advocacy. These narratives show that access alone is not enough; cultural change and structural support remain critical. This study contributes to the broader understanding of gender, sport, and leadership, emphasizing that early athletic involvement can be a catalyst for long-term empowerment and professional success.
